Ahmad Hashash is the Vice President of Formulation at Praxis Precision Medicines, where he leads formulation development and drug product manufacturing across the company’s portfolio, including oral small molecules and parenteral antisense oligonucleotides for the treatment of epilepsies.
Prior to joining Praxis, Ahmad served as Head of Formulation and Drug Product Development at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals. There, he directed formulation efforts for oral peptides and small molecules across multiple therapeutic areas, contributing to the successful approvals of Linzess® and Duzallo®.
Over more than two decades in the pharmaceutical industry, Ahmad has played a pivotal role in bringing multiple breakthrough therapies to patients. At Gilead Sciences, he contributed to the formulation of the company’s hepatitis C portfolio, leading to the approvals of the life-saving medicines Sovaldi® and Harvoni®. Earlier in his career, he spearheaded formulation and development efforts for parenteral anticancer small molecules at Sunesis Pharmaceuticals and led preformulation research for small molecules at Chiron/Novartis.
Ahmad holds a Ph.D. in pharmaceutics and a master’s in pharmacology and toxicology from Duquesne University, as well as a B.Sc. in pharmacy from the University of Jordan.
