Brian is an executive and senior scientific leader with over 22 years of experience, specializing in the pharmaceutical development of novel medicines for unmet medical needs. Brian has extensive experience in CMC leadership including the development and launch of XPOVIO® (selinexor) for the treatment of multiple myeloma and DLBCL, and as a core contributor in the development and manufacture of the highly potent oncology drug Halaven® (eribulin mesylate) via a 63-step synthesis and the ring expanded cyclopamine analog patidegib.

Brian has been leading Karyopharm’s Pharmaceutical Sciences Department since November 2013 where he has been responsible for all CMC operations and supply chain activities. He has expertise in natural product synthesis and natural product derivatives, CMC leadership, and optimizing API synthetic routes and formulations manufacturing. Prior to Karyopharm Therapeutics, he served in senior leadership and scientific roles at Infinity Pharmaceutical and Eisai Research Institute.

Brian received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and his Doctor of Philosophy in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, studying under Professor Steven D. Burke.
